Homemade Foaming Face Wash

Simple Homemade Shampoo made with Young Living essential oils

A few days ago, I posted my simple homemade shampoo recipe using castile soap. Here is yet another simple recipe using castile soap. The best part of making this foaming face wash yourself, is being able to customize the ingredients however you'd like. You can add more of one thing or less of another. Feel free to change out the essential oils for whatever you want for your face type or condition. Also check out my foaming hand soap recipe from last year's post.

You will need:

    Homemade Foaming Face Wash made with Young Living essential oils
  • 3 oz. distilled water
  • 4 Tablespoons Dr. Bronner's castile liquid soap {Amazon link}
  • 1 Tablespoon raw honey {Amazon link}
  • 2 teaspoons sweet almond oil {Amazon link} or any carrier oil that you like on your face, such as fractionated coconut oil {Amazon link}, grape seed oil {Amazon link} or jojoba oil {Amazon link}
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable glycerine {Amazon link}
  • 3-4 drops Vitamin E oil {Amazon link}
  • 1 Tablespoon aloe vera gel - optional {Amazon link}
  • 1-3 drops each of these Young Living essential oils (or scent of choice): cedarwood, frankincense, tea tree, rosemary and aloes/sandalwood (from the Twelve Oils of Ancient Scripture Kit) or Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood
  • 8oz foaming soap dispenser {Amazon link}

Instructions

Put all ingredients into the foaming soap dispenser and shake well. Use as your normally use your face wash. Enjoy!

Homemade Deep Pore Cleansing Clay Mask

Homemade Deep Pore Cleansing Clay Mask made with Young Living essential oils

High price masks and pore strips? Not for me! This homemade mask is super cheap and works better than anything I've ever used. The bottle is about $7.50 and makes about 15 facials (plus the cost of your essential oils). That is only 50 cents per facial! Feel free to use whatever essential oils that you'd like to support your skin.

You will need:

  • 1 Tablespoon water
  • 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar {Amazon link}
  • 2 Tablespoons bentonite clay {Amazon link}
  • 1-2 drops each of tea tree, frankincense & rosemary essential oils (Young Living brand)

Instructions

Mix together ingredients in a non-metal bowl using a non-metal utensil. Stir the mixture well to a smooth paste. Add more clay or liquid as needed. Apply 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch to the face or other area. Let it dry for 5-10 minutes for delicate skin and 15-20 minutes for normal skin. You will feel a pulling and tightening sensation.

Remove the clay by washing with warm water. Slight redness of the skin is normal and will disappear in about 30 minutes. The clay mask removes impurities and dirt for the pores. Your skin will feel amazing when you are finished!

DIY Homemade Face Moisturizer

DIY Homemade Moisturizer made with Young Living essential oils

Making your own beauty products can be simple and cheap! I love using emu oil as the base of my face moisturizer because it has so many great benefits for your skin. You can choose any carrier oil that works best for your face.

You will need:

  • Emu Oil {Amazon link}
  • Frankincense and cedarwood Young Living essential oil {or oil(s) of choice}

Instructions

Every morning and night, I put about a dime size amount of my emu oil into the palm of my hand. I add 1 drop each of frankincense and cedarwood and then spread all over my face and neck. I also like to use the essential beauty serum sometimes instead of frankincense and cedarwood. There are many great essential oils for your skin that you can use as well.

Homemade Cocoa & Shea Whipped Body Butter

Homemade DIY Whipped Body Butter made with Young Living essential oils

This was my first crack at whipped body butter and whew, what have I been missing. I do see why it is called “butter”. After it sets out, it has a consistency like butter, which is rather weird at first, but super cool and moisturizing.

You will need:

DIY Whipped Body Butter with Essential Oils

Instructions

1. Place coconut oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter in a glass mixing bowl and microwave on high. Keep checking and stir to combine until it melts completely.

2. Thoroughly mix in the sweet almond, vitamin E and essential oil(s). For this batch, I used 6 drops each of Myrhh, Lavender, Frankincense, & Sandalwood. Add more of less depending on your preferences.

3. Chill in your refrigerator for an hour or two. You want the mixture to firm up without getting too hard.

4. Once chilled, use a stand mixer or hand mixer to mix until you get a decadent whipped consistency. Scoop into a jar or container. As long as you are using quality oils this homemade lotion should last for 6 – 12 months at room temperature. If your home is extra toasty it may melt but you can re-chill and whip it up again with no problem.

NOTE: This recipe makes more than what is shown in the little 4oz jar. It makes about 2 cups.

Day 19 Loving YL - Magic Skin Spray

Rash spray with Lavender and Melrose Essential oil by Young Living

My little one's skin is taking a beating from sitting on the potty for long periods of time. I really don't feel like rubbing cream on his little booty every time he has to potty, so I use my magic skin spray instead.

You will need:

Instructions

In a 2oz spray bottle, I combine 2oz of fractionated coconut oil with 20 drops of Lavender and 10 drops of Melrose essential oils. I spray onto his bottom at every potty time. You can add a few drops of frankincense as well.

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a sweet, floral aroma that is soothing and refreshing. Lavender’s aroma is great for relaxing and winding down before bedtime; add to bath or diffuse to create a calming and comforting environment. Lavender essential oil may compliment your favorite shampoos, lotions and skin care products. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it.

Melrose™ provides a protective barrier against skin challenges. When diffused, Melrose can help dispel odors.
